Great park for the kids! Lake Wingra is right there for cooling down, and don't forget your grill, so you can spend even more time there! Drop a fishing line in the water and see what you can pull out. So much fun for everyone in the Family.

One of our favorite parks. Great place to go for a picnic by the lake. We also launch our Kayak here for short trips around the lake. Monroe street is nearby for custard or a snack. There are several sports fields that are fairly frequently used, but also a lot of open space for general use. Some great old oak trees on top of a hill make a great spot for a picnic with a view over the lake toward the arboretum.
This reviewer enjoyed the peaceful ambience of the park's many trails and nice facilities. However, I was perhaps slightly (to say the least!) disturbed by the abhorring amount of inebriated, angst-ridden youths gathered round a makeshift bonfire. Now, I am all for having a "good time", but a few of them even had blood inexplicably smeared on their hateful, vapid faces. Sufficed to say, I got myself and Constance (Golden Doodle, pure bred naturally) the heck out of there! So while I'm conflicted, I'm also undeniably intrigued by this new tribal youngster fad. My ruling: a cautiously optimistic three stars.
