Despite the warmer temps today, the cross country skiing was outstanding. Thanks to the dedication in snow making and grooming that made this ski loop possible.
This park has pretty much everything you could want in a park. There is a nice playground, a splash pad, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, disc golfing, and hiking. During the winter months, there is ice skating with the option of a small hockey rink, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. They rent out all the equipment at a very reasonable rate. Oh, and there is plenty of free parking available here.
This is a great park for the proximity, with skiing rentals and sledding available in the winter. There's a disc golf course for the warmer months, too.
We're really lucky to love so close to this park. The trails are wonderful with or without snow. It's so awesome to have lit xc ski trails and the trail variation is great. Ups and downs with great turns, in and out of woods. In the fall we usually see great horned owls at twilight and have seen fox too. A stellar place to walk the dog, trail run, ski, sled, play and more. The gem of Madison parks as far as I'm concerned.
This park has so much to offer, it should be teeming with people. There are well marked groomed XC Ski trails that can be used for hiking in the summer, taking you through gorgeous prairie and Oak Savannah. Play equipment, disc golf and a splash pad. Multiple basketball courts, softball diamonds and soccer fields. I love this park.
