We had a wonderful experience visiting our friend at this hospital yesterday. There was a nurse on the night shift at the Psychiatric Department named Carol who was so attentive and caring. She was so professional, caring, trustworthy, patient, kind, and seemed truly invested in bettering our friend's situation and health. We appreciate Nurse Carol's efforts and want everyone to know that there is some great staff at this hospital. Thank you Nurse Carol!!
The rudest and nastiest staff! The disorganization was ridiculous, we were sent back and forth multiple times for forms that nursing staff was supposed to have. Nurses would yell at the mother and be extremely short with her when her translator wasn't there. They refused our request for a wheel chair even though the mother had been in labor for 32 hours and had just had a c section. They moved her side table (the one that isn't in the way of medical equipment) so she couldn't reach her water for the ENTIRE night after delivery and then nurses would ignore her when she would ask for water. Another friend who miscarried was crying in her room when a nurse came up to her, told her to stop and i joke you not, "Get over it." "This is the worst hospital" is a massive understatement. It is a disgrace and patients are treated like complete inconveniences.
I had my baby at St. Mary's in March of 2016 and the care was absolutely excellent. I have been in several hospitals all over the country before and this one was by far the most pleasant and attentive. All my wishes for labor and delivery were respected and accommodated as much as possible, even throughout my very difficult and complicated labor and delivery. The nurses were kind and understanding, especially about the fact that this was our first child and we didn't really know anything about childcare. They even sent us a nice congratulations card from the nurses after we got home! The prenatal classes at the hospital were also very helpful--I especially recommend the postpartum class and the breastfeeding class. My employer gave me the option to switch to a different health insurance company with exactly the same coverage for about $90/less per month, and I refused because I would have had to go to a different hospital than St. Mary's.
We were in the Pediatric unit and the staff was wonderful. Brooke and Linda were our favorite nurses. Only wish was that the rooms were a little bigger and a bed would have been offered for me instead of asking for a cot. Perfect otherwise.
Recently my brain injured mother had to be taken to the ER at St Mary's after a very bad fall. She fell head first onto the edge of a sidewalk. While they did do a CT scan, the completely inept and irresponsible staff decided to NOT x-ray her skull. They refused to do so even after my Father, her legal guardian, asked them to. They claimed her "skull was fine". Well assholes, it's been about a month now and her skull has been x-rayed and it IS broken. There are now questions as to whether or not her vision will be impacted and many other problems as a result of them not doing their due diligence. We do every thing we can to give her the best quality of life we can and the workers at this hospital decided it was more worth while to save a few bucks than ensure her quality of life not be negatively impacted. Do NOT take your loved ones here unless you want to experience the joy of ineptitude.
