Mediterranean Cafe was the first restaurant I ever visited on my own when I moved to Madison in 2001. With its long, somewhat cramped, and narrow space that seats maybe 30 people, I wasn't sure that I would like the place. My mind was changed forever when I tried the hummus that was included in their chicken shawarma plate. So, so good! It's popular with students and professors at the UW due to it's proximity to campus, making it fairly busy during lunchtime, but it's well worth the wait. Service is always prompt and friendly. The food is usually at your table in less than five minutes. I couldn't recommend this place enough if I tried. Well worth your time!
The best international place on campus, on State Street Madison besides US Madison campus itself. U got the warmth, u can speak Spanish, French, Arabic, English in there, the music too is eclectic... Talk with the owner, Faycal, that's the best human being around. Been coming here since 2004, I always come back...after traveling the world...yep it is that good.
Be ready! You will get your food within 5 minutes of ordering. Great lunch spot that is quick yet relaxing and warming. The culture of the food - and the music, decor, service - is alive. I almost always get the vegan lentil soup (it has a lemony hint which I love). Whenever I come to Med Cafe, it is an oasis, a self care treat, and I am 99% of the time pleased. Enjoy! Try the Algerian Tea for a sweet kick. The Greek Salad is very well rounded and lemony. Baklava for the win. Just about anything will serve you right.
Bustling cafe with lots of menu choices, smiling staff, excellent value. The owner is behind the counter greeting customers and hustling with the staff. Love it!
This has been one of my favorite lunch spots since I discovered it in 2010. I usually get the Akins Plate - so delicious and filling! Very casual and friendly.
