Overall, food was good, but service was pretty bad.
Service though....super disappointing. The hostess when I came in was on her cell phone and didn't acknowledge me until I decided I wasn't going to wait to be seated and instead was going to sit at the bar. The bartender took 5 minutes to ask me what I wanted, then couldn't name anything on tap except for Miller light....not super thrilled. Food came out quickly but I feel that is a nod to the kitchen staff as I counted 8 other staffers out just standing/meandering and talking about getting ready for dinner. I did get asked by the bartender how my food was when I had 3 fries left, bit aside from that only one person interacted with the 5 people in the place. Isn't the whole idea behind being a bartender to talk to the people at the bar and get a bigger tip?
Great food and great outdoor seating. The fish fry was excellent and the pasta with Creole sauce and crawfish was excellent as well. Nathan our server did a great job. We will definitely be back very soon. Thank you for a great first experience!
Great food, service was mediocre at best. I got the Bayou BLT and the Abit IPA. The beer was quite tasty, the sandwich was great. I feel the bacon was cooked to order and the Texas toast it's served on was delicious. There was a spicy sauce on the sandwich which had an unexpectedly strong kick to it. I opted to upgrade to sweet potato fries and they were thick and delicious served with a cream sauce.
I have been here multiple times and I can say every time I have had great bar staff, great food and excellent servers. I would recommend you come enjoy some gumbo and have one of their signature drinks.
Loved the food and great service. This is a secret in Madison that others really need to find out about. Loved the Jambalaya with the added shrimp. They could give you more shrimp for the price, but it does taste great!!
Nobody gets 5 stars Perfection is impossible but if you like flavor in your food and appreciate Cajun cuisine I would suggest it, ask for the smoked sea salt and cajun garlic seasoning, Brings it to the next level. their gumbo of the day rocks, good location, good food, good people and good beer, what more would you want? give it a shot, tell them the mower man sent you... They might even sell you a jar of that smoked sea salt to take home if you behave and ask nicely....
