Been coming here for over 6 years and I’m very thankful for the three main girls- Danielle, Holly and Diane/Diana I think? They definitely make the store a pleasant visit every time however their staff are a different story. I’ve seen many come and go and none of them have made any sort of impact on me. They’re extremely chatty (to one another), unhelpful and rude. Its a pet store filled with animals and animal lovers, don’t see why anyone would be unhappy with their job. I see a lot of comments on here are about the staff and I hope they have more staff trainings in the near future to fix this problem.
AWFUL. Staff is not helpful and ignored us as we were looking at the animals. They acted like the customers were burdening their social time...god forbid they have to work at work!!! Not to mention the animals are overpriced and not properly cared for...not coming back and do NOT recommend.
When I walked in the first thing I noticed was the smell. It was almost unbearable, obviously animals give off unpleasant scents sometimes but this was an overwhelming scent of feces and urine. First I headed over to the reptile section, on my way I passed the puppy play pens. They were empty as all the puppies were back in their kennels, but urine and feces still remained on the ground. Not a single employee was working on cleaning up the mess, they were all standing around the front chatting amongst each other. When I got to the reptile section it looked neglected. There were only 2 or 3 reptiles in the entire section and the rest of the tanks were empty and dusty. One was a lifeless malnourished looking ball python. Since there was nothing because they had either not gotten in a new stock of animals or they had all died from the conditions they looked like they were living in, I moved on to the fish section. Every thing was moderately clean for the most part, but again, employees seemed careless. Normally when entering a animal retail store (or any retail store for that matter) I am greeted and offered any assistance or help. Instead as I was looking at fish and other customers were looking at fish, the two female employees were discussing what sandwiches they were going to get on their lunch break. Now I get it, you can socialize at work, but you also need to work at work. I've worked at plenty of stores before and was trained to always give the best customer service. After that we decided to walk over to the puppies. Walking up I could already tell the section was extremely neglected. Norma puppies are very attentive and excited to see humans walking up to their kennels, but all these puppies seemed unamused and uninterested. Most of them were standing in their own feces, food and water dishes were either close to being empty or filled with their own poop. One of the puppies that had been adopted for the ridiculous price of $1000 was covered in its own poop and licking it's own poop off the window. Not a single employee was anywhere near the puppy kennels or tending to them. Not a single employee came up and offered any help to try and get the puppies adopted. At this point I was already disgusted with the conditions I have seen the animals in. I stopped passed the rodents, they all had 3 or 4 per tiny little cage over filled with bedding. Kittens and adult cats had 2 or 3 in each kennel as well, didn't get up close enough to look at the conditions but I'm sure they were probably pretty similar to the conditions of the puppies. All these customers were looking at all these animals and not a single employee was near by. I decided to just leave. As we were walking out 3 of the employees were running outside to go chit chat amongst each other.
It's obvious the employees of the store are young dumb careless kids who do not know how to care for the animals. I'm sure the manager is well aware of the conditions and also doesn't care. The prices were extremely overpriced for the conditions the poor animals were living in. $1000 for puppies that will likely experience health problems later on because of the conditions. This place is an absolute disaster. I plan on reporting the store to whoever is higher up. Please take your money elsewhere and rescue a dog from a shelter or reputable breeder!
adopt and don't shop!
Recently bought a puppy and went in to get everything from food to toys. The staff was so helpful! They basically walked me around the store answering all of my questions and suggesting the best products for my puppy. There was never any pressure to buy the items they were suggesting. The staff is knowledgeable and they truly care! Donut and I will definitely be back!
Everything under the sun here for pets and their owners. Lots of foods, products, and names I've never heard of in 50+ years of owning pets. Cute adoptions too. Prices a little high but you are getting quality products and service here. I'll definitely be back. Thanks, Animart!
Like any person, if I have time to kill while running errands and a petstore is near by, I like to check it out and look at the cute animals.
