Amazing at all the unlicensed nail salons there are.they get reported and nothing is done.
It would be helpful if the DSPS website were more clear about how applications are processed, what timeline we can reasonably expect (because "up to 30 business days" is not reasonable or clear or even accurate in most cases), and how to follow up with a real person to find out if your info got to where it needed to be. If they can't afford to hire new employees to answer those questions/process applications more quickly, they should invest in re configuring their website so that info is more easily accessible.
tl;dr -- One star for the website and the phone system, five stars for the truly patient and helpful employees (at least in the counseling licensing department!)
I was in touch with DSPS over a period of about three months, working to get my counselor-in-training license approved. I agree with other reviewers that when you call, the hold times are ridiculous. Voicemails also seem to go nowhere, with maybe a 20% return call rate.
However, I actually had an overall positive experience with the people who staff the department I was in touch with. The licensing process was confusing, but they were willing to put in the extra effort to help me get through everything. For instance, the DSPS website lists an incorrect/non-direct email address for forms to be sent to. Every form I sent to that address was "never received". When I actually spoke to someone on the phone, they gave me an email address that worked, and my forms were processed within a couple of days.
I sent my second request email a few days ago. Been waiting a couple of weeks for my first request. So decided to send in another.
I think the Department needs to improved it's communication. When I have called it is rare that anyone answers the phone call. If I leave a message, including name and phone number no one ever calls back. Someone did answer my email promptly.
I would give 0 stars if it was available. I've called three times and left messages without a return call. .
