Staying there for meetings in Madison. The campground is closer to development than I expected. The non-electric sites back up to people's houses.
Nice campground with clean facilities. If you are an RV camper there are plenty of big sites with 30/50amp connections. However, the sites are electric only. If you need to empty holding tanks or take on fresh water, you must move your rig. There are fresh water spigots scattered throughout the park, so if you're close to one and you have a long hose you can get water without moving. Rate for an RV spot with electricity is $27/night as of August 2017.
Lovely place to stay, sights are very level and spacious. Walking and bike trails.
I figure that I am paying about $20/day for a safe place to park my van so I can sleep, have hot running water, and flush toilets. Since I am out early and back after dark, I can't really speak to the recreational amenities but I feel like I am getting my money's worth. I could not get the same even at a discounted hotel.
The showers had plentiful hot water, very important for this time of year. Lots of trees within the campground area which creates a nice feel.
Nice county park campground. Had electric hook up only, but water available if you needed it. Lots of outdoor activities nearby including big fenced in dog area, bike trails and lakes.
It's nice to be so close to the city of Madison, yet be out in the country. Great trails for hiking and biking, plus an awesome dog park nearby. Campgrounds, themselves, are pretty much out in the open and sites are fairly close together, but the surroundings are great.
